Sinead O'connor and Miley Cyrus Intertextuality Scandal
Look familiar?
Sinead O'connor made the famous video 'Nothing compares 2 u' with a close up of her face pretty much the whole way through, also sheading a tear. The song was about her mother who had passed away and it as very emotional. Sinead O'connor was extremely famous for it.
Miley Cyrus with her recent outrageous attitude and behaviour made the video 'Wrecking Ball' using exactly the same technique as what Sinead O'connor did, having a close up of her face and sheading a tear, Mileys song was about a break up. This intertextualtity led sinead o'connor to voice her opinion on the video to Miley.
Sinead wrote a letter to Miley expressing how she doesnt want Miley to get pressured into taking her clothes off in all her video's and licking metal, basically portraying a very prostitutional image of herself, like a sex object. Sinead O'connor unintended to be rude or disrespectful however in some terms saw herself looking out for Miley.
However Miley responded outrageously and rudely writing a tweet about Sinead O'connor mocking her mental health issues saying she was like an "original Amanda Byne". And saying she had "no time to respond as [she] has a performance at the saturday night live tonight"
