Lady Gaga vs Adele

Adele is a singer who is quite traditional in the way she presents herself on stage and the way she wrights and sings her songs. She is very highly respected for a big voice and standing on her own with a microphone. She is a girl next door who is not as skinny as ever and in actual fact claims to have a weight problem. Her target audience is mainly girls as most of her songs are about break ups and being depressed as most girls go through in there teenage years. She is more of a sister to younger girls and definitely a role model in life about being independent, talented and successful.

On the other and Lady Gaga is more adventurous with her music and her style of performing. She is very as some say 'outrageous' with the lack of clothing she wears and what she does wear is usually very loud and makes a statement that she is different. She is very typical in her figure for a pop star however some many say she is a different and better role model as she is not afraid to be different and in the society we live in this may be a big deal for some young people growing up.

As you can see in this video Lady Gaga demonstrates being creative and if you like 'weird'. However she interestingly makes reference to 'Bauhaus' which is a german school for fashion and art. This demonstrates from her background her passions and interests.

Lady Gaga is said to be similar to David Bowie when he first entered the industry. He was also seen as 'weird' and creative.

As you can see Adele is walking the streets slowly looking sad and depressed talking about a break up. The music video is in black and white which also suggests sadness. She went to BRIT school which is a school for performing, this demonstrates her passions from a young age just like Lady Gaga.

Digipak Analysis

Rough Cut Feedback From Survey.

Question 1: On a scale of 1-10 (ten being most enjoyable) how much did you enjoy watching the music video?

On average we got a figure of 8.33 which suggests that our music video is enjoyable.

Question 2: Is there anything you would change? Why?

As shown above we got a varied response. Some of the suggestions were to make the video more colourful however our aim was not to make it too colorful as the song is quite a sad song. We also got a comment that suggested either looking into the camera or looking away, however in the video i am singing to the camera trying to get a message out therefore glancing into the camera is effective. We also got a comment to make some shots shorter which we have taken on board and agree with.

Question 3: Do you feel the song went with the video?

100% yes. Therefore we know we have made a good video to match our lyrics.

Question 4: If not, why?

No response, not relevant.

Question 5: Do you feel the lip synching was well done?

We got 8/9 respondents saying yes it was very well done. We will be touching up certain parts of the lip synching however it is all well matched.

Question 6: Do you feel the editing of the music video was well paced?

A response of 7/9 said it Yes it was well paced. However 2 correspondents suggested it was too slow, we are looking to speed up some of the end parts as they are long shots which are unfinished so this was good feedback.

Question 7: Do you feel the camera work was creative?

7/9 correspondents said our camera work was creative. However 2/9 suggested that it could be improved, this is good feedback as we havent finished filming completely yet, we still have one more location to add which involves many different shots.

Question 8: Do you feel that you got a message from the music video?

Our feedback suggests that 8/9 correspondents got a message from the music video which is good as it was our aim! 1/9 suggests they didn't, hopefully when the video is finished they will as it will be more clear with our last location added.

What message?

Brilliant, our main aim was to get across that you shouldn't let anything bring you down especially not your past and that you get stronger over time. This is what our correspondents got from our music video so we are very pleased with this feedback.

Album Cover Exercise

This is an album cover exercise. Firstly i randomly selected a band name, a album name and a picture. I then edited the text onto the picture, changed the colour and the font and tried out many different filters. However none of the filters portrayed the name boldly enough so I went with the solid text.

Digipak Analysis

Eva Cassidy

Eva Cassidy is also an acoustic singer who uses a guitar to express her music on many occasions. I believe that she is a similar artist to Bailey Morgan and therefore to compare there digipak would be effective.

Eva has a picture of herself on the front of the digipak. She then has a list of her songs on the back. Eva has pictures of her different albums on one side which is her promoting herself however it could also be different mini shots of the video. On the CD is a picture of the guitar which she has used, this is effective as she is an acoustic guitar player so it portrays the type of music she is presenting.
